It started the Department of Distance Education in the year 1968 in order to impart education to students in a non-formal mode. The Punjabi University does not offer direct placement support for the students of Distance Education. However, constant support is provided throughout the year for resume building and preparation for the placements upon course completion.

Scholarships

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme: This scholarship is available to students of the following category:

Aashirwad Scheme

  • SC / ST whose annual income is less than Rs. 2.5 Lakhs may deposit only Rs 1235 for the first year and Rs. 500 for the second and third year.

Fee Concessions

Fee concession is offered to students in a variety of categories at the Punjabi University. The details of the same are:

  1. Two siblings (brother's/sisters) studying in the department will have the benefit of half tuition fee amongst two or more children. This is only applicable to unmarried and dependent children
  2. Students suffering from Cancer, AIDS or Thalassemia only need to submit exam fee + practical fee and library security
  3. Children or Dependent of Armed forces including para-military personnel who have either been killed or permanently disabled in the Indo-Pak Conflict of 1965, Indo-Pak Conflict of 1971 and Indo-China Hostilities of 1962 and IPKF in Sri Lanka
  4. Candidates who have a total monthly income of Rs. 1500 need to deposit all fees except tuition fees
  5. Dependents of employees of Punjabi University Employees
  6. Punjabi University employee
  7. Only examination fee + practical fee and library security for:
    1. Child of a person killed in 1984 riots or any terrorist violence in the state of Punjab or by any action of securities forces in aid of civil war
    2. Child of a 100% physically disabled riot affected person
    3. Child of a Sikh migrant
    4. Child of army deserted, killed or 100% physically disabled person
  8. Physically handicapped up-to 40% or more are exempted from examination fee
